- Alloy:1070
Product Overview
1070 alloy belongs to the high-purity aluminum series, with an aluminum content of 99.7%, and extremely low impurity levels such as silicon and iron. Through advanced continuous casting and rolling technology as well as precision annealing processes, the 1070 transformer aluminum strip produced by HAOMEI Aluminum demonstrates excellent flexibility and stable conductivity in O temper (fully soft condition). It can significantly reduce the temperature rise during transformer operation and improve the overall energy efficiency rating of the equipment.
Compared with 1050 and 1060 aluminum strip, 1070 has clear advantages in conductivity, energy consumption control, and electrical stability, making it especially suitable for transformer equipment with high energy-efficiency requirements or large-current operation.

Performance Advantages of 1070 Transformer Aluminum Strip
1. High Conductivity and Low Loss
The conductivity of 1070 aluminum strip reaches 61.2% IACS or above, and after using high-purity molten aluminum with deep impurity removal treatment, it can reach 61.5% IACS or above. Higher conductivity means lower winding resistance loss (I²R loss). For distribution transformers operating year-round, this difference can bring considerable cumulative electricity-saving benefits throughout the product life cycle.
2. Excellent Formability and Processing Performance
After full annealing, O temper 1070 aluminum strip has a tensile strength controlled at 60–95 MPa and an elongation of more than 25%. This combination of mechanical properties means that it can withstand winding tension without becoming too hard, which would otherwise cause forming difficulties or edge cracking. As a result, the wound coils are neat, compact, and tightly layered.
3. Lightweight and Compact
The density of aluminum is only about one-third that of copper. Even after cross-sectional area compensation design, transformers with aluminum windings are still significantly lighter than copper-wound versions. This is especially important for weight-sensitive applications such as distribution rooms in high-rise buildings and wind power towers. A lighter transformer means lower transportation and installation costs, as well as more flexible layout options.
4. Natural Corrosion Resistance
A dense aluminum oxide film naturally forms on the surface of aluminum. This film is chemically stable and can effectively resist environmental corrosion such as moisture and salt spray. For applications in coastal areas, underground facilities, and other high-humidity environments, this characteristic helps extend the service life of the winding.
5. Excellent Overall Economy
The price of aluminum is much lower than that of copper. Replacing copper with aluminum can significantly reduce transformer manufacturing costs. In addition, the cost reductions in transportation and lifting brought by lightweight design further enhance the overall economic benefits. According to industry data, replacing copper wire with aluminum foil can reduce total material costs by 15%–20%.

Application Fields of 1070 Transformer Aluminum Strip
With its excellent electrical properties, 1070 aluminum strip is widely used in:
High-efficiency dry-type transformers, especially transformers meeting the latest national first-level energy efficiency standards
Ultra-high-voltage reactors, used for reactive power compensation and smoothing/filtering in power systems
Precision electromagnetic coils, such as in MRI medical imaging equipment and industrial induction furnaces requiring precise magnetic field control
New energy equipment, including high-current windings inside energy storage systems and EV charging stations

Production Process of 1070 Transformer Aluminum Strip
Casting and Rolling
The aluminum ingot is heated and then subjected to continuous casting and rolling to form thicker aluminum plates.
Hot Rolling
Hot rolling further reduces the thickness of the aluminum plate while improving mechanical properties and surface quality.
Cold Rolling
Cold rolling is performed at room temperature to further process the material and achieve the required thickness and dimensional accuracy.
Annealing
Annealing eliminates internal stress generated during cold rolling and improves the flexibility of the aluminum strip.
Finishing
Edge trimming, straightening, and leveling are performed to ensure dimensional accuracy and surface flatness.
Surface Treatment
Coating or anodizing treatment may be carried out as needed to enhance corrosion resistance.
Testing
Strict testing is performed on thickness, width, conductivity, and other properties to ensure the product meets quality standards.

Edge Treatment and Surface Quality of 1070 O Aluminum Strip
Edge treatment is a key indicator of transformer aluminum strip quality. 1070 aluminum strip requires smooth, burr-free edges, and the burr height standards are as follows:
Tolerance of Burr and Collapsed Side
| Width of Aluminum Strip (mm) | Burr Height (mm) | Collapsed Side Height (mm) |
| <0.2 | 0.01 | 0.05-0.1 |
| 0.2-1.0 | 0.015 | - |
| 1.1-1.5 | 0.02 | - |
| >1.6 | 0.03 | - |
At the same time, chamfering (R-angle treatment) is required to grind the sharp right angles generated during slitting into smooth arcs, preventing burrs from piercing the interlayer insulation paper.
Surface Quality
The rolled surface should be smooth and clean, free from scratches, metallic or non-metallic inclusions, oil stains, and local deformation. These seemingly minor defects may become the starting point of insulation failure under winding tension.
