Product Overview
1060 H18 aluminum foil strip is an aluminum strip product made from high-purity industrial pure aluminum through precision cold rolling and full-hard temper processing (H18). It offers excellent electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, formability, and corrosion resistance.
The product is manufactured from 1060 aluminum alloy with an aluminum content of no less than 99.6%. Its electrical conductivity is approximately 61.5% IACS under suitable conditions, providing reliable conductivity and corrosion resistance for electrical applications. It is widely used in the manufacture of windings for dry-type transformers, oil-immersed transformers, reactors, instrument transformers, and other power equipment.
During transformer manufacturing, the resistance, cross-sectional area, insulation structure, and heat dissipation conditions of the winding conductor directly affect the operating efficiency and temperature rise performance of the equipment. The 0.2 mm thick 1060 H18 aluminum strip can be used for layered winding or continuous winding according to transformer design requirements, providing an aluminum conductor solution for dry-type transformers, selected oil-immersed transformers, and other electromagnetic equipment.
In the transformer winding industry, aluminum foil strips are commonly supplied in the annealed O temper because of their high elongation and low springback during winding. However, 1060 H18 aluminum strip is a customized option for specific production processes. Its higher rigidity is suitable for transformer manufacturers with accurate winding-tension control that require compact winding structures, improved dimensional stability, and clear requirements for strip stiffness.

Why Choose 1060 H18 Aluminum Strip for Transformer Windings?
1.Stable Electrical Conductivity
With a high-purity aluminum base, 1060 aluminum strip has low electrical resistance and stable conductivity. It can help reduce conductor heat generation and electrical losses during transformer operation, contributing to improved energy efficiency.
2.H18 Full-Hard Temper with High Rigidity
Compared with annealed O-temper aluminum strip, H18 aluminum strip offers greater hardness and stiffness. After winding, it is less likely to deform and can help maintain a neat, compact winding structure. It is suitable for applications requiring higher dimensional stability and conductor rigidity.
3.High Surface Cleanliness
The rolling-oil residue is carefully controlled to provide a uniform and clean surface. The strip can closely fit insulation paper and insulation films, helping support transformer insulation processes and reducing risks caused by surface contamination.
4.Good Atmospheric Corrosion Resistance
1060 aluminum has good resistance to normal atmospheric corrosion. It is suitable for indoor transformer rooms, outdoor packaged substations, and other electrical operating environments where long-term electrical reliability is required.
5.Easy Cutting and Joining
The aluminum strip can be processed by cutting and is suitable for subsequent joining operations such as TIG welding and brazing, depending on the transformer manufacturing process.
6.Good Thermal Conductivity
1060 aluminum offers good thermal conductivity, helping transfer heat from the conductor during transformer operation.
7.Low Density and Light Weight
Aluminum has a density of approximately 2.70 g/cm³, which is significantly lower than that of copper. The use of aluminum winding materials can help reduce the weight of transformer windings and, in turn, reduce the overall weight of the transformer.

Key Quality Control Points for Transformer Winding Aluminum Strip
In addition to meeting basic chemical composition and mechanical property requirements, 1060 aluminum strip for transformer windings should also be carefully controlled in terms of dimensional accuracy, edge quality, flatness, and coil quality.
Thickness Uniformity
For 0.20 mm aluminum strip, thickness stability directly affects the number of winding layers, inter-turn structure, resistance value, and final dimensions of the winding. Precision cold rolling and online thickness measurement can be used to maintain consistent strip thickness.
Width Accuracy
The conductor width must match the transformer design dimensions. Precision slitting can be provided according to customer requirements, with controlled width tolerances and neat edges.
Burr Control
Excessive edge burrs may scratch insulation paper or insulation films and affect the interlayer structure of transformer windings. Therefore, transformer aluminum strips typically require strict edge-quality control. Deburred edges or round-edge products can be supplied upon request.
Flatness and Strip Shape
Good flatness improves winding efficiency and helps avoid problems such as wavy edges, camber, curl, wrinkles, and uneven layers. Coil tension and rewinding quality can be controlled according to the requirements of the customer's winding equipment.
Surface Cleanliness
The surface of aluminum strip for transformer windings should be clean and flat, without serious oil stains, oxidation marks, cracks, dents, pinholes, scratches, inclusions, or other defects that may affect insulation or winding performance. For customers with special insulation processes, residual oil and surface cleanliness requirements can be confirmed in advance.

1060 H18 vs. 1060 O Aluminum Strip for Transformer Windings
When selecting aluminum strip for transformer windings, both the alloy grade and temper should be considered. The 1060 alloy designation mainly represents the chemical composition, while H18 and O indicate different material tempers. Together, they determine the final performance of the aluminum strip.
